Special Education Needs Co-Ordinator

Swanage Primary School

Swanage Primary is looking for a Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) to support the Head teacher and Deputy Head, a National SENCO award would be an advantage. Experience from a  previous SEN children with additional needs, enabling them to thrive is preferred, however we always provide advice and support. Our induction is fully supportive and if further training is required this will be available.

 The successful candidates will need to be capable of working independently. The hours at present are for one full day per week during term time only. The successful applicants will be directed by the Head teacher and Deputy Head, working closely with them, plus Teachers and relevant support staff throughout the school.  This post will commence as soon as possible after the interview date, subject to a successful DBS.  Overall responsibility:

  • To lead, manage, develop and maintain high quality SEN provision which enables quality     teaching, excellent learning outcomes and success for all pupils
  • To model effective teaching, to coach and train colleagues and to teach across the school
  •  To keep all aspects of paperwork including records and policies, up-to-date and actioned, as appropriate

You will

  • Have experience of working with children in an educational setting
  • Be good at building excellent relationships with children, parents and staff
  • Work well under direction from others 

This post offers a fixed-term contract.
