We are looking to employ a full time Technical Officer working in the Environment Team of Public Health and Housing Services.
The post holder will primarily be responsible for carrying out roles in the area of private sector housing and enforcement of the Housing Act 2004.
The main roles of the post holder include; carrying out inspections of privately rented property, assessing hazards, liaising with landlords and tenants in order to improve the standard of accommodation. The role also involves inspecting houses in multiple occupation to ensure the compliance with current regulations as well as assisting in the investigation of cases of alleged illegal eviction or harassment. The post holder will liaise closely with the staff of the Dorset Accessible Homes Service in the delivery of adaptations to allow people to remain independent in their own homes.
Other duties are to assist in bringing empty properties back into use and inspecting licenced park home sites.
The post holder will ideally have previous experience of housing inspections and knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, be customer focused with a practical mind and enjoy working within a small enthusiastic team of people delivering a wide range of different services.
