As a Public Health Staff Nurse 0 - 19, you will participate in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and will work in partnership with children, young people and families, the Local Authority, Early Intervention Services, Local Authority Children’s Services, Early Years Providers, Schools and Education Establishments, and other services.  You will be required to work closely with other members of the CYP Public Health Service 0 – 19, to provide services in response to identified needs, including safeguarding and supporting children, young people and families.

We are looking for a part time enthusiastic and motivated Public Health Staff Nurse 0 – 19  to join our Purbeck Team based in Wareham.  The core team hours are 09:00 – 17:00 with no weekend working. 

Main duties of the job

As a Public Health Staff Nurse 0-19, working to the Healthy Child Programme you will work in partnership with children, young people and families, the Local Authority, Early Intervention Services, Children’s Services, family Hubs, Schools and other Health Care providers, providing services in response to identified needs, including supporting the delivery of ParentLine. 

You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and packages of care to people on an allocated caseload; promoting independence and autonomy; working within a multi-disciplinary team.

You will have advanced own clinical knowledge, skill and competence based on current evidence through educational programmes.

You will  evaluate care, taking appropriate action leading to improvement in quality standards through clinical audit, and contributing to root cause analysis and dealing with complaints.

You will provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to students and junior staff in the team.

Knowledge, skills and training

Essential criteria

• Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level
• Membership of the relevant Professional Body
• Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio
• Clear understanding of the national children’s agenda and key public health policy drivers
• Clear knowledge of Safeguarding Children and adults

Desirable criteria

• Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training

Job specific experience

Essential criteria

• Experience of developing programmes of care for an individual or groups of patients/clients and of providing advice
• Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively
• Recent previous experience within a community setting

Desirable criteria

• Recent previous experience within a comparable role

Managerial and supervisory experience

Essential criteria

• Experience of contributing to the management of change
• Experience of providing clinical supervision and mentoring to junior staff

IT and resources

Essential criteria

• Able to evaluate data and produce reports using Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience of using electronic patient / service user record systems

• Able to effectively manage available resources in the pursuit of quality service provision ensuring a safe environment
